- It’s been funny watching this transformation from toddler to big girl in Olivia. Suddenly she is sprouting the tiniest freckles all over the place. She has one just above the corner of her mouth. It is miniature, but I can’t help but notice it whenever I look at her and it makes me feel all weird inside knowing something has permanently changed the landscape of her face. You know?
- Snow White is the lamest Disney princess of all time. What, a handsome guy with super great prospects shows marked interest, so you scream in his face and run away? Only to peek out your curtains at him like a four year old? For real.
- There might be nothing better than the spectacularly noisy thunderstorm occurring outside my open windows this very moment.
- I saw on pinterest that bobby pins are meant to be worn with the bumpy side against the head. I feel like the whole world just tilted a little further on its axis. I will likely continue wearing them the way I always have, regardless. (but isn’t that weird?)
- I ran eight miles with Cara today and I’ve got a black toenail and three blisters to prove it.
- Colin Firth will forever and always be the best Mr. Darcy ever.
- If you haven’t seen the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, I don’t know what you’re waiting for. Emily and I are watching it currently and we can hardly contain ourselves. Just now, Mr. Darcy is confessing his undying love to Lizzie in the most unflattering way possible (“In vain, I have struggled. It will not do!”) and it is AWESOME. Also read the book, for crying out loud.
- Olivia spent hours today frolicking in her swimsuit and playing in the sprinkler. I spent hours today sitting on a blanket in the grass, reading my book. It felt incredibly decadent, but she didn’t require much more from me than the occasional comment, and I would have just been sitting there staring at her, so I decided to pull out my book. Please bless that she lets me do that again sometime.
She spent most of her time sitting in that bucket. Did you just read that passage from my book?
- Emily and I were feeling a little reckless at 10 pm a couple nights ago, so we hiked the Y. NOBODY TELLS YOU HOW HARD THAT HIKE IS. I mean, I guess we were literally climbing a mountain, but seriously! It was ridiculous! Maybe it was extra hard because it was the middle of the night? And because I was afraid a literal BYU cougar would pounce on us?
I didn’t take this picture, but here’s the Y mountain.
Emily was reallllly happy to make it.
Here’s a somewhat blurry picture in which I appear to be gleaming. I felt like I was going to slide backwards right down the mountain.
This picture cracks me up. We were so drunk from the experience of nearly dying from falling off cliffs about 17 times that we could not get a decent picture to save our lives. And then I pretended to sleep on Emily’s shoulder and Emily made this face. (Do you guys think that maybe I was adopted? I think I might be a different race than my own sister.)
- If you are an RSS reader, I spent my whole night changing things around on the old girl. Stop by and check her out?

I LOVE your middle-of-the-night Y hike and pictures. Because seriously, it IS hard! And that white cement Y is steep! Those pics make it look like you could slide right off. Awesome.
And I am 100% fan of reading books while parenting whenever possible. I tell myself my kids shouldn't get used to my full attention all the time; it will lead to entitlement and unfair expectation for other relationships ;)
The Y is a serious workout and YOU ARE SO TAN! Did you like my enthusiasm? Also, I was ravenous for 2 days after our Saturday run. Please tell me you were too?
You're so cute! Love you!
I am reading that same book too! the series is one of my favorites. :)
