A practice in hypotheticals.

I went on a date with my friend Cara the other day.  If I had a doctor who was in charge of all things to do with my mental health (I believe such a professional would be called a therapist), I’m totally positive he would have prescribed just our adventure.  “Now I want you to go out with a friend, eat some amazing food, look at old pictures of younger times, for hysterical laughing purposes, you understand, and watch a pretty good movie.  Then call me in the morning and tell me what an awesome doctor I am for knowing just what you need in your life,” is what he would have said, I’m pretty sure.  He probably would have included, “And try not to pull your back!”  But then I would, anyway.  For the second time in one week.

If you are wondering what that Olivia has been up to lately, WELL, let me tell you.

She has been terribly busy working on her summer tan.

And also playing with shells collected specifically for her by my parents during their stay near the Oregon coast.

A crab claw was also in the batch.

She decided they made pretty spectacular hats.

And she’s been spending practically all of her time being really, really, super cute.

AND!  She had the opportunity to go on a date with her dad a couple nights ago.  Oh, she was excited.  She was peppering me with questions, “Where are we going?”  “Will he take me to sushi?”  “Tell him I want to go to sushi.”  “Mom.  I want sushi.  Am I going to sushi?”  “Where is my dad?  Is he coming to take me to sushi now?”  and so on.  The wait for him to get out of school was agonizing.  Just as I was getting her ready to go, she looked down at herself and said, “AH!  I need to wear a dress for my date!  I am not wearing a dress!”  So I let her pick a fancy dress.  Then she needed fancy hair.  So she got some of that, too.  (But you can’t even see it in the picture.)

Waiting for her date:

And, yes.  She went to sushi.

Her other activities have included nonstop park-going (while wearing gigantic 4T clothes, because I thought it’d be a good idea to buy with the future in mind, forgetting that by the time she actually fits into these clothes, they will have been worn for 2 years and probably not very cute anymore, but what are you going to do when you’ve already ripped all the tags off, you know?)…

…and starring in blurry pictures while frolicking around with her one true love: Sunchips.  She is in love and she doesn’t care who knows it!  She is so in love that I could probably sell her love story to Hollywood and make millions and millions of dollars.

The movie poster would probably look something like this:

And they lived happily ever after.
