Extra raisins, please.

Who am I, even?  Blogging at 8 o’clock in the morning!  I have a Mon-Thurs 7 a.m. class these days.  My original plan was to get home from school and go out for a run, but it’s pouring out there.  And have you noticed the way running is always terribly appealing when you CAN’T do it?  But you can bet it’ll be a sincere struggle to get out there on days when you actually can.

Yesterday was Mother’s Day, if you recall.  Isaac promised the night before that he would take care of the child when she woke up, so when I heard the telltale singing and roaring (she roars every morning when she wakes up. ???) from next door, I rolled over and whacked him.  “Remember your promise?”

I slipped back to sleep, then woke a while later when an uncoordinated little knock came at my door.  (Children are the best at knocking; it’s always this arrhythmic, awkward little pattern.)  In came Olivia and Isaac bearing breakfast.  Only Olivia had balked when Isaac suggested making pancakes, waffles, or ANYTHING other than what she had in mind.  So they came clutching a bowl of Raisin Bran, per my daughter’s insistence.

I totally enjoyed my fancy breakfast-in-bed, Raisin Bran notwithstanding.  It’s hard not to when someone is peering up at you with such delight.  Isaac even peered down at me with a little delight, so there was much delight and peering all around.  And what more could you ask for on Mother’s Day?

(probably an amazon gift card with which to fulfill all of your compulsive reading needs, which I totally also got.)

Would you believe I didn’t even touch the color on this photo?  The grass is really that green; I think it’s all this rain?  And speaking of rain, well, it stopped.  So maybe I will run after all.  But I will probably have some Raisin Bran first.
