Bits and Pieces

Some thoughts:

- It’s funny when Olivia coaches my speech the same way I do hers.

Example: “Mom, say ‘water’.”    “Water.”    “Good.  Now say ‘bottle’.”    “Bottle.”    “Ok, now put it together. ‘Water bottle’.”    “Water bottle.”   “WOW!  You say that very well!!”

-  There was a tragic incident with my brand new birthday Ipod.  2 days after I received it I was walking outside to put it in my car.   It slipped out of my hand and landed face down on the cement with a sickening crunch .  I kind of started hyperventilating; I was terrified to pick it up.  I bent down and tentatively flipped it over to discover that the glass screen had shattered.  With my heart in my throat, I turned around and walked back into my house to confess my grievous deed to the item’s purchaser.  When I walked inside, I saw him sitting on the couch and suddenly my eyes filled up with tears.  Ok, look- I’m not a big crier, but I just felt so GUILTY.  The guy buys me an expensive present and TWO days later I destroy it.  I’m an infamous murderer of electronics around these parts.  So anyway, he’s really nice about it (even though I can see a little bit of “Seriously??!” in his eyes) and calls the company to see if there’s anything they can do.  There is.  They send me a shiny screen-intact new one.  What’s the first thing we do before even taking it out of the box?  Buy the most durable case we can afford.  It looks like this:

Somebody brilliant decided to make a hard plastic case that totally protects the glass screen.  Every time I look at this picture I get really distracted by the reflection of myself on the screen.

If I manage to break it with this bad boy on it then I deserve to have all Ipod ownership privileges revoked.

-  Olivia really likes wearing things on her legs.

She’s also getting a serious tan.

Every time I look at this picture I get really distracted by how bowed out her legs look.  They don’t really bow like that- I think it’s because she’s leaning on the door.  And come on, why can’t I tan like that?

-  With outlets like Facebook and blogs, the world really gets to know whether you’ve got any writing/grammar/English skills.  I’m hardly a stickler, because what do I know?  But there is one thing that drives me INSANE.  Like, I want to rip my hair out when I see it.  Let me give you a sentence.  Can you find the problem?  “Oh man, I wish I could of come!”  Ok, here’s another one.  “I would of picked you up!”    Have you seen this???  I think, dear people, that what you are actually trying to type is COULD HAVE or WOULD HAVE.  Thank you.

-  Olivia is constantly listening to every thing around her.  She spouts out plenty of things that surprise me, but none so much as when she began to appropriately use the word “similar”.  Today it was, “Bees.  Leaves.  Hey!  Bees and leaves sound similar!”  She is always pointing little things out about our language that I rarely give thought to.  The other day as I was parking the car, “We are parking our car, huh Mom.”  She thinks for a moment then, “Park!!  That’s the same word as the park I play at!  They have the same name!”

- I’m pretty sad to see June go.  Goodbye, favorite month of the year.  You were lovely.

sorry for not commenting for awhile :( my internet has been out for the past week...totally lame.

but don't worry, here i am to tell you that you are pretty much awesome. and i break everything too. that is why i don't own anything nice (well, that is part of the reason...the other part is because my boys break everything nice as well).

I can't believe how big Olivia is getting. she is quite the young lady, isn't she?

I agree with your grammar pet peeve. Annoying. In your Ipod photos I am more so distracted with your finger nail polish than your reflection. I love it! I am very sad to see June go as well.

That is so awesome that you got a new Ipod for free. Nice case, too!

I love your iPod case, you're definitely going to have that bad boy for a while....

also, I am the WORST with grammar...so I am sure you have had to be the grammar police with me (in your head)--haha. Sorry 'bout that.

Yeah, I had a similar Ipod experience. Josh got me a touch and it fell out of my pocket into the toilet (YIKES!) like 2 months later. Lots of prayers and holding it up to the hand dryer miraculously saved it, but it was the scariest/saddest moment of my life having to tell Josh!

Kendall, it's good to hear from you! I have dropped 3 (THREE) different phones into the toilet. My husband acts like it's the weirdest place to drop something, but hello! I keep my phone in my backpocket and forget about it. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has done this!
I'm so glad your touch survived!
